Donations made to us benefit our nonprofit partner Habitat for Humanity. 10% of the estimated sale price of your kitchen will fund home building for those in need.
If you value your donation at $5,000 or less, we can email you a receipt for the building materials. If you are hoping to deduct more than $5,000, the IRS requires a building materials appraisal.
The appraisal process is straightforward:
- By email or using this form, we can schedule a time to photograph and inventory the space ourselves, or you can provide us detailed pictures of the kitchen, dimensions of cabinets and appliances, and linear feet of cabinetry.
- We send the information to an IRS approved appraiser. They draft a proposal for you that includes the cost of the appraisal and the expected tax deductible value of the building materials listed on the inventory.
- If you decide to move forward with the appraisal, the rest of the paperwork will happen in the background and 1-4 weeks after the deconstruction is complete you will receive a receipt from Habitat for Humanity with the appraised value of your kitchen/bath, which you can deduct from your tax liability.
