Tax Deduction

Tax Deduction

Donations made to us benefit our nonprofit partner Habitat for Humanity. 10% of the estimated sale price of your kitchen will fund home building for those in need.

If you value your donation at $5,000 or less, we can email you a receipt for the building materials. If you are hoping to deduct more than $5,000, the IRS requires a building materials appraisal.

The appraisal process is straightforward:

  1. By email or using this form, we can schedule a time to photograph and inventory the space ourselves, or you can provide us detailed pictures of the kitchen, dimensions of cabinets and appliances, and linear feet of cabinetry.
  2. We send the information to an IRS approved appraiser. They draft a proposal for you that includes the cost of the appraisal and the expected tax deductible value of the building materials listed on the inventory.
  3. If you decide to move forward with the appraisal, the rest of the paperwork will happen in the background and 1-4 weeks after the deconstruction is complete you will receive a receipt from Habitat for Humanity with the appraised value of your kitchen/bath, which you can deduct from your tax liability.
